Bike Fitting Services

A well fit bike makes for a very happy rider. For many riders, their bike might be the correct size, but small ergonomic tweaks might be needed in order to fit the bike to the rider. At Bruce's Cycle Works we have been using professional bike fit tools longer than anyone else in Saskatoon. Let us help you enjoy the biking experience.

The experience and training of our staff make them eminently qualified to provide professional bike fit services. Cory has a degree in Kinesiology and has been racing competively for many years. These skills combined with the Specialized Body Geometry training provide him with a unique set of skills and understanding of the biomechanics needed to fit bikes to riders.  Neil has a master's degree in mechanical engineering in the area of fluid dynamics which is closely related to aerodynamics. As well, he is a certified level III cycling coach and active triathlon coach. Neil has also been riding and racing for over 25 years. This background skill-set combined with the Specialized fit training, have allowed him to hone his fitting skills.

Specialized Body Geometry Bike Fit

The Specialized BG FIT (Body Geometry Fit Integration Technology) system was developed during a long partnership with Dr. Andy Pruitt Ed.D., PA of the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. This scientifically based bicycle fitting system will allow you to rider faster, longer and in great comfort!

The BG FIT starts with a pre-fit interview to determine your injury history, fit needs, and cycling goals. The interview is followed by a flexibility assessment to gain an accurate picture of your flexibility, physical attributes including assessment of foot structure, knee position, spinal curve, shoulder extension, hip flexion, and leg length to name the major points. From here the fit progresses to assessment of the rider on the bike to deliver a neutral position that is both powerful, and comfortable. Adjustments to seat height, handlebar height, stem length and cleat position are performed. The next step is to optimize hip, knee, and foot alignment for greater performance, balanced power delivery.  A final overall check is performed, and adjustments are made as needed.

Body Geometry Bike Fitting Tools

At Bruce's Cycle Works, we have a complete array of bike fitting tools to assist us in fitting your bike properly to you. Our most powerful tools are a combination of Specialized BG fitting tools and the Juteau-Cantin Bike Platform and squares. These allow us to work with you on your bike (or the bike you are about to purchase) and make precise measurements and adjustments to your position. We also have the ability to attach your bicycle to a TACX power meter to simulate real-world pedaling loads to allow us to evaluate changes in position on kinetic ergonomics and make appropriate changes.

In addition to the BG fit and Juteau-Cantin tools, we have a wide array ofstems, handlebars, BG saddles, BG footbeds, BG shims, and axle extenders to ensure that your bike fits you properly.
